All In The Family

The Corrs are an Irish folk rock group that have achieved great commercial success. The group consists of four siblings. Sharon plays the violin, Caroline is a drummer and percussionist, Jim is a guitarist and Andrea usually takes care of lead vocals for most of their songs. All of them are multi-instrumental and sing as well. In fact, they are known for great vocal arrangements in a lot of their songs. The group has released five studio albums and numerous singles. Their releases have achieved platinum status in many countries.

They have described their style as a blend of modern rhythms with traditional acoustic instruments and rich vocal arrangements. However, they are often pigeonholed as a folk rock group. This was perhaps true for their first two albums but the third made a move towards mainstream pop. In Blue integrated a lot of synthesizers into its tracks which attracted a lot of criticism from fans of their more traditional sound. But it widely considered the best mainstream pop album on the market at the time of its release.

The fourth album turned to heavier guitar sound. Next came Home which was an album where the band covered many traditional Irish songs. These songs came from different eras and one of them dated back to a thousand years back.

The Corrs have cited their influences to include The Eagles, The Police, The Carpenters, and Sting. But their main influence was their parents who were both musicians. I guess it must be the genes.
